Work-life experiences designed for young people can ignite enthusiasm, build courage, and strengthen the belief that their ideas and actions matter. Innovation Home is proud to support initiatives that nurture this mindset.
Creating space for youth work-life experiences
This spring, Innovation Home joined as a partner of the Spring idea competition, organized by the Children and Youth Foundation. Spring is a nationwide competition for 15–19-year-olds, where the top three teams were awarded a paid summer job. During the summer, these young talents further develop their ideas into more concrete projects. One of the winning teams consisted of three 15-year-old students from the International School of Tampere. Innovation Home provided them with a dedicated workspace at its Finlayson location.
“The goal of the competition is to strengthen young people’s sense of agency and belief in their future. Through this collaboration, we wanted to create a safe, inspiring, and communal work environment where young people could develop their projects while gaining insights into working life among innovative companies,” says Ville Bengs, producer at the Children and Youth Foundation and lead of the Spring competition.
Innovation Home has also collaborated with the Foundation on job shadowing (TET) placements in the Helsinki region for several years. These placements work particularly well in our community environment: students are exposed to various companies, and businesses benefit from a streamlined way to engage with youth through the shared network.
Early summer buzz at Kamppi with international youth
Innovation Home also hosted the international CBYE 2025 (Central Baltic Young Entrepreneurs) event organized by Nuoret NYT. Held at Innovation Home Kamppi on May 7–8, 2025, the two-day event brought together young participants from Finland, Estonia, and Latvia for lectures, workshops, a trade fair, and company visits.
Innovation Home served as the venue for the Job Shadow program, where youth explored everyday business operations and developed their ideas in real-world work settings. The house came alive with youthful energy, bold pitches, and fresh perspectives on the future of work.
“There’s something deeply meaningful in these kinds of encounters. We’re not just a workplace—we are a place where people and ideas grow. We believe it’s essential to support youth development and keep our eyes on the future,” says Tommi Aaltonen, COO of Innovation Home.
